OUR MERMAIDING COURSES WILL START AGAIN AT THE END OF MAY 2022 IN THE NATURE: SEA AND LAKES.

Classes for everyone and for all ages!

Mermaiding courses are open to those who want to learn to swim like real mermaids and mermen.
We offer one to one, group and private lessons and workshops, for children (from 6 to 13 years), teenagers (from 14 to 18 years) and adults, in public and private pools. During the Summer months the lessons are available also on the beach, at lakes or at open sea for the most experienced. The lessons are tailored to the number of participants, their age and their water skills.

In Ariege and Aude, we offer courses, workshops and lessons all year round in your private pool. Ariege ( France – 09) Aude (France 11)

Life in a Wave is affiliated with FIAS (Italian Federation of Underwater Activities)

And shares its teaching standards and protocols. At the conclusion of a course lasting at least 8 hours, you will receive FIAS “Mermaid Diploma”.

Each lesson is composed by:

Dry warm-up exercises

To prepare joints and muscles to the water training

Exercises in the water

To acquire familiarity and to learn the swimming techniques with the monofin.

Apnoea preparation exercises

To learn ventilation and compensation techniques.

Mermaids and Mermen fun time

Mermaids and Mermen recreational circuits and dances in the water for children and adult with the help of hoops, balls, elastics, ropes, starfish, and other objects, to acquire an increasing familiarity with fin while having fun.

Going to sea

Open sea boat trips during the summer months.

PRIVATE MIXED LESSONS: SWIM AND MERMAIDING

Mermaiding can become the gateway for children and adults who experience water with apprehension and who would like to learn to swim or improve their aquatic skills. The desire to wear the siren’s livery can inspire, especially children, to work on the resistance they might have towards the water. Life in a Wave provides the liveries and monofins to use during the lessons.

  • COURSE LENGTH: 5+5 private lessons

  • NUMBER OF PARTICIPANTS: one to one

  • LESSON DURATION: 1H

  • WHAT WE WILL DO: classic swimming lessons (to learn the different swimming styles) gradually integrated with Mermaiding swim.

  • WHERE: in the pool or at sea (during the summer months)

ONE TO ONE MERMAIDING COURSES

One to one private lessons to learn swimming as a Mermaid or a Merman, also at your own swimming pool! The course is for  children and adults who already know how to swim and want to experience this fun and innovative swimming style.

  • COURSE LENGTH AND ATTENDANCE: we will decide together according to your needs.

  • NUMBER OF PARTICIPANTS: one to one.

  • LESSON DURATION: 1H15

  • WHAT WE WILL DO: basic and advanced Mermaiding techniques, free- diving techniques, choreographies.

  • WHERE: Swimming pool, delimited sea waters, open sea. Also at you home swimming pool.

MERMAIDING BEGINNERS COURSE

Life in a Wave’s group lesson to learn how Mermaiding. The course is thought for children and adults who already know how to swim and want to experience this fun and innovative swimming style. At the beginning of the course you will receive your monofins and liveries. At the end of a 4+4 course you will receive also your diploma “Mermaid” FIAS, Italian Federation of Underwater Activities.

  • COURSE LENGTH: 4+4 weeks, 1 lesson per week.

  • NUMBER OF STUDENTS: MAX 6

  • LESSON DURATION: 1h15.

  • REQUIREMENTS: good water skills.

  • WHAT WE WILL DO: Introduction of swimming techniques (wearing monofin and livery), ventilation and compensation techniques for the Apnoea phases.

  • WHAT TO BRING: nose clips and swimming goggles.

  • WHERE: in the pool or at sea in delimited waters (during the summer months).

ADVANCED MERMAIDING COURSE

Group lesson to learn go deeper into fin swimming, free-diving techniques and choreographic component. The course is for children and adults who have already obtained Mermaid FIAS diploma. At the end of the course you will receive your diploma “Princess Mermaid” FIAS, Italian Federation of Underwater Activities.

  • COURSE LENGTH: 4 weeks. Once a week

  • NUMBER OF STUDENTS: MAX 6.

  • LESSON DURATION: 1H15

  • REQUIREMENTS: have already obtained “Mermaid Diploma”.

  • WHAT WE WILL DO: advanced Mermaiding monofins techniques, free-diving techniques, group choreography. The last 2 lessons will take place at open sea (boat trip).

  • WHAT TO BRING: nose clips and swimming goggles. Your livery and monofin.

  • WHERE: Swimming pool, sea limited waters, open sea.

Mermading Summer Tour

MERMAID AND MERMEN SUMMER

From the months of June to October, Life in a Wave undertakes the “MERMAID SUMMER TOUR” an itinerant tour to bring Mermaiding on the French Riviera and on the Italian coasts. In the Events and Workshops section you will find the dates and stages. To the above one to one and group classes will be added:

MERMAID AND MERMEN ON BOARD

Boat trips of 3 or 6 hours for groups or individuals. To live an original and unique adventure with friends and family. We will provided monfins and liveries to those ready to test their mermaiding skills in open sea.

MERMAIDING BIOSNORKELING:

The eco-friendly way of living the sea to learn about our coasts and seabed, the marine’s fauna and flora. All you need is a mask and snorkel. We will bring the mermaid liveries and the monofins. Maximum 6 participants. Good water skills are required.
